This is a somber and reflective version of the hymn “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord”.
We used it for our Good Friday and Tennebrae Services at our church. You’ll notice I left out
the last verse about rising from the grave, just to capture the sense of darkness and despair of
Good Friday. If your looking for a creative clip to add to your Good Friday or Tennebrae service
this would work well. I think you could even start Easter morning with this and then come out of
the clip with the triumph of ressurection.
Were You There – Lyrics | Good Friday Hymn
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?
Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?
